A Memorial service for Katherine C. Arabie, 70, will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Acadian Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 Pm.

Mrs. Arabie was a resident of New Iberia. She was born on November 21, 1939 and passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center at 1:49 PM

She is survived by two children Lynda Roberts of Jeanerette, and Thomas Arabie of New Iberia; six grandchildren Ricky Gilbert Jr., Joseph Lee Gilbert, Kobe Arabie, Mya Arabie, Rene Basden and Johnathan Duhe’ ; two great grandchildren Assyria Gilbert and Janie Gilbert, one nephew James Lee Christiana of New York;

She was preceded in death by her parents Nelson Christiana and Irene Van Leuvan Christiana, three sisters and two brothers

To those I love and those who love me, when I am gone, release me and let me go. You must not tie yourself to me with tears. Be thankful for our beautiful years. I gave my love, you can only guess, how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but it’s time I travel on alone. So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a time that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far way; for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near, and if you listen with your heart you’ll hear. All my love around you soft and clear, and then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say Welcome Home
